Decentral Games Community Spotlight: MikeyZee

Tell us a little about yourself.

Aside from gaming and my now love of poker (which is now more of an obsession!), I love football and combat sports.

I was born and raised in North London, England—the red side specifically haha, so I’m a huge Arsenal F.C. fan!

Watching sports and following my beloved Arsenal usually takes up my spare time but other than that I love spending time with my friends and family, barbecuing, and having a few glasses of wine or cracking a couple of beers 🙂

How did you get into web3? What was your web3 “aha” moment?

I got into web3 when I saw Kris Kay‘s video on ICE Poker.

The idea that I could own an asset on the blockchain, play a game, be a part of a worldwide community, and earn some money completely blew me away.

I bought my first ICE Poker wearable shortly after. And then bought another. And another. And here we are!

How long have you been involved in the Decentral Games community and what kept you coming back?

I think it’s coming up to around 1 year and some change now–which is wild!

Initially what kept me coming back was learning and improving at poker as I’d never actually played before ICE Poker. More recently with SNG tournaments coming along and the gamification changes that have been made, it’s an incredibly fun game that keeps getting better and better.

And of course, I wanna give a huge shoutout to the ICE Poker and wider Decentraland community as a whole. I’ve met some incredible people that I’m lucky enough to now call my friends and look forward to meeting many more. Big love to everybody!

What’s your favorite ICE Poker wearable collection?

It’s changed a few times. When I first came into ICE Poker it was the Spartan set—which was actually my first mint!

Now it’s the Pirate set. It has that Pirates of the Caribbean vibe which is super dope. And everyone knows Chip has a special place in my heart ❤️

Who are some of the people in web3 who have inspired you?

Obviously, Kris Kay has been hugely influential to me and I actually still attend a class with him every Saturday. Shout out to the WealthSquad!

And a few people from our very own community that I can’t not mention and who I’m lucky enough to call my mates: EmpressRaeon and Iceyyy! On a personal level they are incredibly kind-hearted souls and it inspires me to see their journey and how hard they work.

I also wanna give a shout out to Fifty Sat, a talented dude in this space. I strongly recommend anyone to sign up for his newsletter. He will keep you on the right track.
